It’s about People.

Sometimes owning your own business can really become overwhelming. The list of ‘to dos’ is endless.
However it’s also the most exciting and liberating experience! Because I’m constantly learning and being challenged.
Yesterday, I was at Goodwill (yall know me, I like to find those little treasures) I was looking for some old glassware; but I was in a hurry, trying to get in and out quickly.
I passed by one of the employees, she was young girl looked like she was in college or maybe senior in high school. She came up an started complimenting my oversized, vintage jacket; she was telling me how much she loved thrifting an how I reminded her of a business owner who started the show finding unique things.
It was nice talk with her but I was in a hurry, she found me a couple more times walking around and would start conversation about clothing, or different things. Super sweet.
But like I said I was in a hurry, I had a list of things to do. So, Without finding what I was looking for, I waved to the girl and rushed off. An to be honest, Relieved to be getting on with my day.
As I was walking to my car I felt the Lord simply remind me of one thing ...PEOPLE .
I took a deep breath, went BACK in to Goodwill, looking for this young student, realizing I never even introduced myself or asked her her name; I walked up to her, said “I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself” I gave her my name and ask hers. She told me her name and quickly opened up that, she is inspired by design and wants to be a DJ. (WHAT 😃) I told her who I was gave her a card and encouraged her dream and left. 5 minutes tops.
Life will always be busy, it will always be full, but I want to be the type of person, the type of Owner, the type of woman, who doesn’t forget that people matter.
In this holiday season it’s especiallyimportant to encourage and empower the people around us. ‘Todo’ lists will always be there, but those moments won’t. I was reminded to add PEOPLE to my list.
