Let's Talk Goals

Ok, raise your hand if you have “Getting Married” on your 2020 goals list..or maybe stepping in that direction…

Getting married is one of the most timeless goals in human history! A powerful moment where you declare your commitment and love for your best friend and life partner. Maybe it's getting married, maybe it’s a new fitness goal or habits, maybe your hoping to have your first child; Maybe it's a daily goal for character development or a long term goal to buy a house..

2020 a new decade, a new opportunity to set goals and move towards them. GOALS, help us grow, they help us dream, they help us accomplish. But let's be honest, sometimes we only make it a few months, weeks, days.. maybe even hours before we relapsed on this “GOAL Setting” kick. The thing is when “Goal setting” if there's not a  passionate 'WHY' attached to what you’re doing, or without a solid belief in yourself and the ability to achieve those goals —then it might be met with disappointment.

For example, If your goal is to get married simply because everyone else is getting married or cause maybe you're tired of being single, or because you can’t wait to hire Blue Daphne to do your floral (which I don’t blame you), you might miss the fullness and joy that comes from a life long goal of Marriage (the WHY)  vs. a DAY to get married.  If we make our goals primarily about the task then we take the joy out of the journey. When we forget the WHY, we start forgetting the goal.

Write your vision down, each goal, take time to describe what you want to see; put this somewhere you will see it every day, and it's easy to access.

Brides do a great job of this; some of you have written your vision for your wedding down when you were 3 years old, you picked the colors, dress, hair, even the special person and what he or she would look like. Thanks to Pinterest, we now have even more resources to describe each detail that we want to see.

So like a young bride planning her wedding, we should apply this same tool to all the goals we set. Taking control of each goal, paying attention to your thoughts, write it, draw it, with purpose and belief & then use them as reminders and affirmation to show up each day for the journey.

2020 is only just getting started!
